Neither are you likely to see a woman umpiring the final of the world Twenty-20 championship. Yet the final of the snooker world event is being refereed by a woman - and why not. There are still several ways in which cricket needs to catch up with 21st century sport and the sooner it starts the better. But I can imagine the looks of horror, the excuses and the attitude all round if you were to suggest a woman calls "Play" at Lord's on June 21.
